Matthew O’Connor, founding partner of the firm, earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics with a minor in philosophy from the University of California, Davis, in 1995. He later graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1999, also receiving a certificate in High-Technology Law.
After law school, Mr. O’Connor began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. From 2000 to 2006, he handled over a thousand criminal cases and tried more than thirty jury trials. His caseload spanned from misdemeanors to serious felonies, including murder, sexual assault, and other high-profile offenses. He was a strong advocate for vulnerable victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, ensuring their voices were heard in the justice system.
In 2006, Mr. O’Connor entered private practice, where he continued to fight for justice—this time on behalf of individuals harmed by corporate misconduct and insurance companies acting in bad faith. He has managed numerous high-profile cases and brings extensive experience navigating litigation challenges involving media attention, public scrutiny, and special interest
concerns.
Mr. O’Connor is a proud member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, the California Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
